They call it being a farm building rural appearance, because from the outside what you see is a simple nave gable, when in reality it is a modern detached house, accompanied by a larger structure for guests in a place with lake Vermont (USA).

A sequence of metal frames is the main structure of the house, are seen inland, the rest is wood, except for extreme walls have been built with thick stonewalls. Modern furniture, a few doors, large lamps on the kitchen island, an area of study in a side aisle … these are small details that give life to this temple from home in the countryside.
Is a project of Rick Joy Architects. Photos of Jean-Luc Laloux.
This family house is located in the Azores (Capel, S. Miguel Island) and, as the project report of its author:
“… The building is a re-interpretation of classic Greek and Roman house, with two courtyards, one for input and one central, to collecting rainwater, allowing light and ventilation to reach the open area of floor (living room and kitchen). “

He adds that the volume of the kitchen treated as the great chimneys of traditional island houses, like other things less important, and there are many. But we’re going to stay with the flavor that leaves outside the house, which is none other than a building that apparently has no windows, at least as we used to see them, but nevertheless does not lack the light in your interior.
We also found only two materials abroad: a gray stone veneer and a coating of wooden planks. Although we have only pictures of the interior, at least we have seen the impressive kitchen with this volume of sloping walls, topped by a skylight. Despite having made this house called, Domus Impluvium believes that their courts spend some unnoticed, and quite removed from the classical concept. Read the rest of this entry »
This is a house of 110m2, developed on two floors, Ichinomiya (Japan) and built almost entirely of concrete, but being seen (without coating) on both front and inside of the house. This is one of those projects for lovers of this material, and especially the minimalist decor, it is the concrete itself which starred almost the entire environment.

This is achieved through the use of structural concrete walls, which in turn are the enclosures housing, properly defined, leaving voids that will eventually have the building, which are quite rare, because all the work is done to ensure much privacy.
The most unique space Mukaiyama House is the kitchen-dining-lounge, where you can see that even the ceilings are left exposed concrete floors because they are built with slabs, while the floor is coated wood the same as the kitchen furniture and doors from the rest of the house. A curious fact in the following image, that space acquires such solemnity that it could be a chapel.
A small drop marks the area of the kitchen and dining room from the rest of this space, with elongated holes, both vertical and horizontal which is just below the kitchen furniture. The central island is designed on two levels, the cooking and sink, and a great top with a wooden board to eat. Read the rest of this entry »
The concept for the new building of the Bolzano Province, Italy, conceived from an idea generated by sculptural desire to establish continuity with the past of the city of Bolzano, was seen as a reconstruction of memories, the spirit of place and transposition of iconographic symbol of the history of architecture in the city.

From this ideological assumption, the study developed innovative about the network of its envelope / facade of the new body looks like one of the iconographic symbols of the city, the Domus (Cathedral). In fact, trends in the ribs of the great vault a “cross vault”, projected on the three ships, allowed an extrapolation of the particular module of the new envelope generator.
The plan for the Cathedral of Bolzano becomes the generator of the architectural design composition of the entire facade of the new building, organic appearance, lively, pure and dynamic that opens to the whole territory. The proposal is the stylistic facade of a building placed in simple terms of volumes and plants. It consists of two distribution centers for vertical ladders and hydraulic lifts and contains sanitary facilities and kitchens. These lead to varying levels of column-free office. The building covers a total of nine floors above ground and two underground levels. The ground floor consists of an arcade, obtained because of moving the network perimeter of the building’s facade, thus allowing the integration between the avenue and the new building. The atrium of access is an area that invites and separates the coffee area for children and divides the access for employees and pedestrians. Read the rest of this entry »
This amazing house is an amendment to an original held in the early ’80s, located on Lake Austin (Texas), which has been re-organize its dependencies redesigned interior with modern materials, and luxury.

The fundamental strategy of the project was to use reflective surfaces like glass and acrylic panels on the walls and doors, to pick up the subtle reflection of light and flowing water, a clear intention to reaffirm the relationship of housing to the lake. Therefore the presence of water is continued within the limits of construction, making the pool was invaded, a fact that highlights the eye.
The entire structure is metallic housing with fully glazed facade to the garden, showing all inside. All hinged doors are custom powder coated, steel frame and white acrylic panel.
The kitchen-dining area is simply spectacular: a huge space with furniture arranged creating different areas and located in the central part of the front garden. The center island kitchen has a piece in the middle of white acrylic and illuminated, like the front of the cooking area. It is without doubt the best atmosphere of the entire house. If you click on the picture you can see enlarged. Read the rest of this entry »
