We present previously unpublished images of the rehabilitation project of an old apartment building located in the heart of Madrid (Goya corner Principe de Vergara).

The involvement of A-zero starts with the demolition of the building before being replaced by a new six plants with an innovative design of straight lines. A volume that rises defiantly from the surrounding traditional architecture with a set of glass modules.

For this work we developed two different proposals for the different treatment of the dividing wall. It raised a first option with a blank party wall coated glass that provides a glimmer and a second and final in which the glass wall is presented.

Access to housing for this new block is held by the annex building (the corner with Calle Príncipe de Vergara), whose interior was also restored by A-cero. In this case the facade remains intact, as it is protected for its historical value. Emphasizes the point made in restructuring the site and service stairs to adapt to fire regulations, improve accessibility and remove architectural barriers. Read the rest of this entry »

This presence is reflected in its forms and meanings: the highest dome, crowned by a sun, represents the image of Kaiser Franz Joseph I of Austria, while the juvenile has a crown and a moon (now lost) that symbolize the figure of Empress (SISSI) Elizabeth, Queen of Bavaria, Austria. Urrezkoenea: House on the coast of Biscay, Spain

In a plot with a steep slope and orientation North, as well as the coast and therefore of the view, housing is placed next to the entrance, straying away from him to the house of the shadows and seek as much sunlight as possible. It is a diversion, but also the beginning of a new road, the pedestrian, which leads to the house, serving as a prelude to the path of the plot, which descends to the sea.

In the conditions of the site is derived from both a desire to disappear as the need to protect, in those days, common on our coast, where the northwest wind and rain make the place unpleasant. The road tour is looking for such protection from the wind, making the wall that is folded and looking for a deep place from which to observe the landscape. The hearings come and go on this journey to make them less obvious.

The Precast House

A house with the skin of glass and precast concrete reflects the political landscape. Recently completed by the Irish agency FKL Architects, the Precast House stands in the village of Howth, near Dublin.

The Porto House

The program content and management to meet the expectations expressed by the client to provide a housing type T4 within certain parameters. The current building, for her portrayal structure, architecturally defined, and its close relationship with the adjacent facades of the project, presented by way of maintaining this facade and to submit only the necessary adjustments resulting from the introduction of a new range to to access by car into the new house.

Pretending to this facade incorporating new materials with existing ones. The programmatic increase over the current situation culminated in the demolition of existing housing, the building, the introduction of a new floor and the compatibility of the facade with a new program, required the adoption of solutions such as a lifting platform car parking and to improve dialogue between people and place, through the different slopes and the proposed construction.

The second floor of this proposal consists of two bedrooms, one bathroom and one suite. The suite oriented towards the east and in total harmony with spaces for the couple and the other bedroom faces west and in constant visual contact with the street. Read the rest of this entry »
