The Glasshouse: Conference Center, Arts and Entertainment, including a theater arts for 600 spectators, a regional art gallery of 600 m2, a studio theater, conference facilities and community workshops. Located in the heart of Port Macquarie, a fast-growing coastal town north of Sydney, the commissioning of the project was to establish the Cultural Centre as a prominent facility for the development and exhibition of the arts in the region.

The design takes advantage of the views of the Pacific Ocean and based on the “openness” and accessibility. The gallery is located to share the foyer of the theater space, enabling the proper display of public spaces of the building and in a few days of visits, the center can operate with minimal staff.

Wrapped around the sculptural shape of the auditorium, the foyers are open and glassy, besides being naturally ventilated. The expression of the building and the foyer generated by contrasting the order of the grid of the city and voluminous forms the lining of the theater, with its three levels, the glass wall is located on Clarence Street. NS Copse House

The North Side Copse House is a country house in West Sussex, near London and was designed by the Ecologic firm. Since its inception, the project has been driven by the idea that a design of exceptional value may become a significant asset to the area where you are. The project therefore, has developed its entirety, from concept to manufacturing and technology systems and development of design solutions.

The symbiotic relationship with the site has been explored in the plane of the facade and structural design of the house. Passive design strategies have been applied to give the house a good potential for natural ventilation and lighting, solar access, and use of thermal mass and insulation. As a result, each lift has acquired a different setting, where the qualities of the façade varies in response to specific local stimuli. Read the rest of this entry »

Santiago Cirugeda is an architect born 1971 in Seville, who has developed architectural project design, written articles and participated in various debates, round tables, conferences and biennial of architecture. He graduated as an architect in ESARQ (Universitat Internacional de Catalunya) in Barcelona, with Federico Soriano as their teacher. In the field of urban reality covers topics like the ephemeral architecture, recycling, strategies for urban intervention and occupation, the addition of denture buildings and public participation in decision-making processes on urban affairs.

The Prince of Wales Country Club, Fitness Center & Spa

The Prince of Wales Country Club was a challenge to live up to the times for which they proposed to offer new services related to leisure and sport and re-enchanting and its partners to promote the informal, and increase the general use during the week.

There were well-established and outdoor facilities so the strategy was to define a platform-level sports resolved underground, and gardens of the north flank of the Club House. In a contemporary language that will not create conflict with the existing architecture of such eclectic turn, the fact of being underground maintains the existing situation of looking at the sports fields from the same building, which represents a value for the architectural design status of the original building site.

The functional unity of the new facilities is from the subway, at your sides, with ramps leading down to the level swimming pool and gym. While in the first level, connection occurs via two bridges, which link the existing building, and sports areas. Read the rest of this entry »
