To say that a building is integrated into the landscape is a resource that many publishers abuse to praise a project when in reality we all know that is like talking of cement and margaritas. This time the topic is true, because this housing Longhi Architects is carved in a hill of Pachacamac, 40km south of Lima (Peru), blending with their surroundings.

It is a work of architectural camouflage, but rather of symbiosis between land and human activities, both routine and intellectual. On an area of 5000m2 built area occupies approximately 480m2, which are organized in different “front” as the hillside.

Raised as a retirement home for a philosopher, it was all projected on an “invented ancient language”, there is symmetry and almost all their holes are distributed in a disorderly manner, but without breaking the overall harmony of the work.

A large area glass cube on its end is the only piece of “naked” all the house, the rest is always behind the walls that form its walls of stone, or simply buried.

It’s powerful texture of the masonry walls, which sometimes serve to hold the land and others to form the front, sometimes alternating with concrete walls, but always giving the building a character of ancient and modern settlement in their language.

The interior is even more unpredictable because the surprising property in each of his travels, with a total degree of customization, standard with no gaps, presenting solutions for each entry and volumes of concrete to form part of the furniture of the house, as the case of hormgión dining table (also see floor plan).

The originality and freedom with which it has designed this project are typical of the virtual architecture and even setting up for some games. In fact anyone who has spent hours in front of the monitor through the scenes of Tomb Raider will know what I mean because the atmosphere is found in every part of it is there where you are carrying.

This is a house of 110m2, developed on two floors, Ichinomiya (Japan) and built almost entirely of concrete, but being seen (without coating) on both front and inside of the house. This is one of those projects for lovers of this material, and especially the minimalist decor, it is the concrete itself which starred almost the entire environment.

This is achieved through the use of structural concrete walls, which in turn are the enclosures housing, properly defined, leaving voids that will eventually have the building, which are quite rare, because all the work is done to ensure much privacy.

The most unique space Mukaiyama House is the kitchen-dining-lounge, where you can see that even the ceilings are left exposed concrete floors because they are built with slabs, while the floor is coated wood the same as the kitchen furniture and doors from the rest of the house. A curious fact in the following image, that space acquires such solemnity that it could be a chapel.

A small drop marks the area of the kitchen and dining room from the rest of this space, with elongated holes, both vertical and horizontal which is just below the kitchen furniture. The central island is designed on two levels, the cooking and sink, and a great top with a wooden board to eat.

The main staircase is made of concrete steps that are embedded at one end in the wall, and the other hanging on the top floor with corrugated steel armor. The ceiling is a skylight to give light to the start of this ladder.

The fundamental strategy of the project was to use reflective surfaces like glass and acrylic panels on the walls and doors, to pick up the subtle reflection of light and flowing water, a clear intention to reaffirm the relationship of housing to the lake. Therefore the presence of water is continued within the limits of construction, making the pool was invaded, a fact that highlights the eye.

The entire structure is metallic housing with fully glazed facade to the garden, showing all inside. All hinged doors are custom powder coated, steel frame and white acrylic panel.

The kitchen-dining area is simply spectacular: a huge space with furniture arranged creating different areas and located in the central part of the front garden. The center island kitchen has a piece in the middle of white acrylic and illuminated, like the front of the cooking area. It is without doubt the best atmosphere of the entire house. The furniture and lighting are much studied in the house, with almost all the hidden lights, thus creating a minimalist decor. It has been used massaranduba (Brazilian wood, but in forests of the USA) for coating. Upstairs is a reading room with sloping walls and red acrylic panels with holes, a very unique space created with few elements, which is accessed by a stairway railing also of wood and full glass.

A-cero architecture studio presents a new single-family housing project located in an exclusive area of Madrid. This is a 3-level house on a plot of 1 hectare. In a future post, we will show pictures of the finished home.

In the basement are located: garage facilities, wardrobe, storage, pantry, cellar, laundry-drying area, linen room, gym, locker room, bathroom and Turkish bath, distributed around 609m2.

On the ground floor are located: hall-dealer, kitchen and office, with pantry and fourth lingerie, games room, dining room, bathroom and closet. Also located on this bedroom floor and guest bathroom. Outside the sports facilities are related to housing: swimming pool and paddle tennis court, with a total area of 838m2.

Top floor houses the living-library, five bedrooms, five bathrooms and two dressing rooms, dimensions and shape according to their function. Also, access stairs to the deck, the proposed use as a solarium, all on 420m2. This level has a total area of 52m2.

The house is divided into basement and two floors with use of part of the roof as a terrace, was sought with the proposal the smooth functioning of housing in relation to the needs of the property and its logic of use. On the ground floor all the rooms are distributed for the day area and living room, kitchen, office and dining, as well as the guest bedroom, distributed in basement rooms for storage, and garage facilities, as well as the laundry, grocer. Top floor bedrooms are distributed and a living room-library.

The formal solution has been sought an aesthetic result, the surrounding environment and the application of planning regulations governing the building.

The solution aims to respond to customer needs in terms of distribution, leisure and surfaces. The property is developed mainly on the ground floor and first floor, leaning against the basement for location of additional rooms.

It’s hard to imagine a house that is shown outwardly pure enough volumes, can have within an organization of space with a geometry as complicated, especially a ladder so unique. It was built for a young couple with children, and is located on a hill overlooking the city of Kyoto (Japan).

The distribution was done in three plants, but with an empty space, that runs through, giving the case for example in the ground floor clearances ranging from 2.5 m to 7.5 meters. At this level are the kitchen, dining and lounge, the latter connected with the garden through a fully glazed facade, through a large sliding door. The opposite side (west) occupied by the garage, which has the width of the house.

On the first floor there is only a bedroom above the garage, with a terrace, but with a bathroom that serves the entire elongated housing, and has a bathtub at one end, receiving natural light from the empty space double-height living room. We have here a problem of privacy is not clear how the photos are done. Do not miss seeing the floor plan of this house, it is imperative to understand that from the first floor part two stairs both have curved track. Each of them into a bedroom, a guest on the west side and another that vents from the sides of the house (to the south and north), and has a living room overlooking the garden before, the wide facade of glass mentioned above.

The whole structure topped by a simple hip roof on a concrete slab that flies around the perimeter, which highlights the superb finish of concrete in almost all areas of the house. Outside coating also found burned cedar plank (finished with clear varnish) and a lattice of horizontal slats that hides the garage door.

The architecture studio A-cero presents an interior renovation of an apartment located in Ferrol. The house is set in a single plant, which located two bedrooms with bathrooms, living/dining room, kitchen, laundry, toilets and outdoor terrace. The total areas of the plant are 155m2 and 150m2 of terraces.

The hall-dealer accessed from the main entrance of the house. Linking two distinct areas (day area and night area) for an imaginary north-south axis. The lounge / dining room, kitchen and laundry room is located east of the axis, while the sleeping area (bedroom) is the West. Thus, both the room as the master bedroom, but occupy their own space within the zoning forth above, enjoy the same south facing views, this being an important priority for the property and enjoyment of the dwelling.

The terrace offers relaxation areas and seating. Dominated south to enjoy the sun and views, and north used to link this area with the kitchen to have a barbecue area and outdoor dining. The master bedroom suite designed with a dressing room with a total of 40m2.

It has sought, with the proposal, the smooth functioning of housing in relation to the needs of the property as possible to adapt the packaging pre-existing formal and turning the main rooms to the south, looking for a better use of the views of light and heat. The elevations sorted according to a harmonic modulation of the gaps, trying to maximize light and views mentioned above. The living – dining room, has an area of 38m2.

The formal solution has been the result of an aesthetic sought sinuous lines and volumes that play flexing its forms, allowing the enjoyment of the surrounding environment and the pursuit of wealth interior space.

Beauty, strength and usefulness are the keys to the strong housing that we present you throughout the week. A construction of pharaonic dimensions (2.900m2) emerging as a large sculpture in the exclusive area of Madrid “The Lakes of La Finca.”

Continuing the sculptural architecture of A-zero, this time the work of Richard Serra has been the main reference and inspiration to design this residence located in the largest parcel of residential (13. 357m2 of surface area).

The outer walls define the overall picture of housing. The purity of form construction creates a coherent whole with a structure made only by concrete walls where the intermediate pillars disappear and fine materials such as travertine marble, are imposed.

In accordance with the wishes of customer privacy, the house has closed to the outside (the path) through a series of concentric curved walls of natural stone at the same time, generating large spaces and open to the inside of building.

The building comprises three levels: basement, ground floor and first level. The interior layout was organized looking for maximum functionality and comfort of the owners, so that the master bedroom and all rooms used by the owners are located at the level of access.

Attached to the main residence is located a house for the service (on the left side of the picture). This second part is integrated into the volume with surround curved walls that mark the outdoor unit of the project and defining the open space inside.

Finally, include the natural environment of the property: a landscape with lawns and lush pine tree mass, strawberry trees and beds of rosemary and lavender blend with the smooth and spectacular forms of housing.

The architecture studio, A-cero presents you a modular semi-detached house situated in a village in the mountains of Madrid. To explain this property, you must first know what they consist of the elements of the traditional house. One of the great hallmarks of the peoples of the mountains is your home, reflecting the lifestyle of its inhabitants.

Traditional houses joined physically strong and sober spaces for agricultural and livestock purposes (barn, stable and corral), to residential use.The manner of construction of housing with local materials contributes to the integration of rural communities within the landscape in which it sits. The construction of this area has always been conditioned by the cold and adverse weather conditions that occur in the mountains. The buildings are usually very compact and support each other to protect against low temperatures. The materials used are stone, slate, wood, adobe and tile Arab curve, very easy to get to the locals, and which proliferate in the vicinity.

The traditional model of housing, called “ mountain home “, is in stone masonry walls and slate uncut, trimmed inside with mud. In the base and the angles of the house would place blocks of stone Gander and rectangular or “blocks”, which introduced more robustness. Both the floors and in the structure, use large oak beams and pine. The holes in the facade, rather few and small were often framed by large pieces of oak saw, granite or brick tiles.

Traditional housing is usually one or two floors. The two high, located in the upper bedrooms and a camera that was used for storage of annual harvest of grain and farm implements. On the ground floor there is the portal, living room, the stable and kitchen where family life was structured and was the main source of heat.

The core of the home revolves around the kitchen, dark and the light coming through the chimney, which had an oven and a large pantry. Sometimes the oven protruding from the building as a kind of apse attached to the house. Generally covers two waters and a low slope, used to follow the slope of the land, giving the impression of buildings flattened and terraced integrated into the landscape.

At this level 2 units are distributed. In this first level are the living room – kitchen of 18m2 and a closet with a staircase leading to the second level.

On this floor are the offices, the house A (the left) consists of a master bedroom with bath and two closets for a total of 38m2, while the house B (the right), has 2 bedrooms , 2 wardrobes and a bathroom with a total area of 57m2.

We introduce a residential project located in the municipality of Santander de Somo. The house is located on a plot of 2.204m2 with irregular polygon and high slope that reaches up to 17m in height in just 55m of travel.

The initial idea is to integrate the building in the fantastic environment conducive to the riverbank.

The slope, which could pose a problem becomes an advantage because it allows the housing close to the north and open to views of the South to protect it from cold and open it to light. According to this gap, the project composed into three levels: basement, ground floor and first level.

The construction is a series of windows that minimize the boundaries between interior and exterior.

The project evolves linked to these conditions by a simple set of volumes, a longitudinal axis intersects two parallel volumes at different heights and they meet the volume and distribution of property.

The benchmark of housing is a large horizontal at two heights.

The dominant materials are wood, glass and cement, although the building has been covered with Naturvex skin in shades of gray.
